How to Open the Relationship Map for a Space

This guide shows you how to open the relationship map, which shows the Records in a Space and how they link to each other.

Prerequisites

  • The ADMIN role in the Space.
  • The relationship map turned on for the Space. If you can't see Relationship map in the Space, contact your administrator.

Open the Map

  1. In Studio, open the Space.
  2. Select Relationship map, or open /spaces/<spaceId>/graph directly.

Result: The map opens. A 404 means the map isn't turned on for that Space, or you don't have the ADMIN role in it.

What the Map Shows

The map includes live Records from all Schema versions, including retired versions. Deleted Records and Records belonging to deleted Schemas are excluded. Records do not need to be migrated to the latest Schema version to appear.

The overview shows compact cards for the ten most-connected visible Records. Select a card or dot to inspect a Record. In the selected view, cards appear beside up to ten directly related visible Records, ranked by their visible relationship counts; secondary Records do not get cards. Hover a connected dot to inspect its relationship details.

Card subtitles show the connected Record's Schema, such as Application, rather than the relationship field name. For single-value fields, the map shows only the oldest active link if historical duplicate links exist. A sampled map does not show a later link in its place when that oldest linked Record is outside the sample.

Adjust the Sample Size

Use Entity / Relationship limit to set the number of Records (500, 1,000, or 2,000) and relationships (1,000, 5,000, or 10,000) shown. The defaults are 500 Records and 5,000 relationships. The map displays a separate notice when either limit truncates the sample.

If the map fails to load on a large Space, narrow the Schema selection or lower the limits in Entity / Relationship limit before retrying.
